Hot Tips

Today I go about door-stopping some Mancunians and asking them their opinion on some of the events they'd seen.
Mel, 24, singer and writer of “melodic, lovely songs” has just played a gig in PlayStation's 3Rooms. “It was a nice vibe,” she says of her hour-long acoustic set as she props up her guitar case on a bench outside a pub round the corner.
Today is the first day Mel has managed to see the festival in full swing and she is impressed. What's her hot tip for MIF?
“I'd recommend PJ Harvey. She's playing at the Bridgewater Hall. I saw her in Dublin last year and she was amazing.
What's your favourite thing about Manchester?
“At one point it was the nightlife but now, not so much. I suppose I like my area, where I live, and I like the community there. So I'll big up Whalley Range for the trees, and the lovely people.”
