Salma Alam
Salma is currently in her third year studying for a BMus in contemporary classical composition at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Training at present in composition for live instruments, Salma enjoys using her skills in recording and electronic music in the creation of her work.
She recently composed music for a recently discovered film from 1901 shot by Mitchell and Kenyon which was premiered live at the Cornerhouse in Manchester as part of the 'Electric Edwardians' series in partnership with the BFI. In 2005, Salma won the 'Last Minute Changes' composition competition for 'cutting edge jazz' fronted by Manchester-based jazz sextet, 6pac. Her most recent project, “#fuse”, involved writing a large-scale piece for a solo fiddle combined with percussion and large ensemble. #fuse was an amazing project with the RNCM that 'fused' various music styles, including jazz, contemporary classical, and traditional folk.
Christiane Hoffmann
Christiane has just graduated with a BA (Hons) in Photography. She is interested in Fine Art Photography though she also uses other media, such as video installations and computer animations, to explore her practise. She said: ”I see myself as an exhibiting artist. Just as much as I love presenting my own work to an audience, I enjoy curating my and other people's work.” Visit Christiane's website at www.christianehoffmann.com.
